For Paraeducators: Helping Students with Mod to Severe Disabilities Build Skills for Independence (Pre-school - 8th grade)
This training will review characteristics and learning styles of many students with moderate to severe disabilities and describe educational strategies and tools to address behavior, communication, and social interactions. This training will show video clips to illustrate intervention strategies.
- Gain a deeper understanding of the needs of students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Learn strategies to prevent and/or reduce problem behavior
- Understand the importance of providing meaningful, age-appropriate activities and tasks
- Learn ways to help students become as independent as possible
- Learn strategies to help students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities reach their full potential.

Check (paid by you or your district/school via a purchase order process): After you register you will receive a confirmation / invoice. If you are paying for the event yourself, print your confirmation / invoice, attach your check, and mail as indicated. If your district or school is paying for the event, please forward your confirmation / invoice to the appropriate person so that a check can be processed via your district/school's purchase order (PO) process. SCOE does not require a copy of the PO, as an invoice is sent at the time of event registration.
Credit card (PayPal): You must enter credit card information at the time of registration. If you are being reimbursed for this event, follow your district/school guidelines for reimbursement.
