Sonoma County Office of Education

LGBTQIA2+ Educator Collaborative

SCOE is excited to offer a second gathering of the LGBTQIA2+ Educator Collaborative. The collaborative first began as a response to a brave teacher asking for support. It has expanded into an interdepartmental initiative including a county-wide affinity group for LGBTQIA2+ educators; an anti-bias, anti-bullying professional development program that will be available to every school and district in the county; and this event, a yearly collaborative gathering of educators and community members who support the LGBTQIA2+ community.

At this event, we will come together in support of the LGBTQIA2+ community with a focus on educators, students, and families in our schools who have been marginalized and discriminated against because of their identities as part of the LGBTQIA2+ community, as well as other intersectional aspects of their identities. We will work as a large group and in small groups to brainstorm, discuss challenges as well as successes, and to support each other in this important work.

All are welcome to join us at this event, allies included. We will center and uplift the voices of BIPOC, trans, and other LGBTQIA2+ folks as we work together to address the interpersonal and systemic challenges our communities face. Click here to view flyer.
