Mandy Corbin Confirmed as SCOE Assistant Superintendent of Special Education

Sonoma County Superintendent Dr. Steve Herrington is pleased to announce that Mandy Corbin has been confirmed as Assistant Superintendent of Special Education at the Sonoma County Office of Education, effective Feb. 1. Ms. Corbin has served as interim assistant superintendent since August 2017. Her position change was reviewed by the county superintendent and SCOE Leadership Team in collaboration with several district superintendents and special education directors.
"Her exemplary leadership during the fires in securing extended long-term mental health support for all 40 school districts is commended," said Dr. Herrington. "Her coordinated efforts to provide mental health training regarding the adverse impacts of childhood trauma were acknowledged by all."
Prior to becoming interim assistant superintendent, Ms. Corbin served as principal of SCOE's Non-Public-Schools Program for eight years. Before that, she was principal at a private special education school for 10 years. She's spent 26 years in special education and earned her administrative services credential in 2005. Ms. Corbin earned her Master's degree from Ohio State University. She is a parent of a son who has autism.
