CTE Foundation’s Tinker Academy Brings Students to SCOE

08/06/2024 -

TinkerAcademy2024Square The Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) hosted a cohort of local middle school students during a two-week STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) summer camp organized by the Career Technical Education Foundation Sonoma County.

The camp gives students hands-on experience with STEM-related activities such as coding, soldering, robotics, and digital design and manufacturing.

This year’s camp ended with a showcase held at SCOE on Friday, Aug. 2, in which students presented their projects to families, friends, and SCOE staff.

The Tinker Academy is a program of the Career Technical Education Foundation Sonoma County, whose mission is to expand and enhance education programs throughout the county that align with the economic and workforce development needs of local employers and industries.

SCOE has hosted the Tinker Academy at its Skylane Boulevard office in Santa Rosa since 2022 and provides additional support in the form of planning and staff time.
