CASBO Learning Opportunities
If a Sonoma County school district employee attends an eligible workshop their district will be reimbursed for the cost of registration. This month we highlight CASBO Payroll Essentials. This wonderful opportunity has previously sold out, but due to high demand new sessions are now open! Districts will pay for the registration upfront and then be reimbursed after proof of attendance has been provided to SCOE. One person per district (unless approved by Greg Medici or Sarah Lampenfeld).

The CASBO Payroll Essentials Program is an intensive, two-and-a-half-day training designed for current and aspiring school business professionals working in the discipline of payroll who want to get first-rate payroll skills.
Become proficient in understanding payroll-related computation from gross to net; review federal, state and local statutes and rules and regulations; understand the education code, labor law and tax administration, and retirement systems requirements. To receive a certificate of completion, the open-book skills assessment requires a 70% minimum passing score.
To be a successful program participant, registrants should know how to:
- Create & format worksheets/workbooks
- Insert data in & be able to format cells/ranges
- Order & group cells/ranges
- Create & modify/filter & sort a table
- Use cell ranges & references in formulas/functions
- Summarize data with functions
- Use conditional logic in functions
- Format & modify text with functions
- Create & format a chart
- Insert & format an object
