Name:
Lacey Goff
Years at SCOE:
This month (August) marks my 1 year anniversary!
Job Title:
Administrative Operations Specialist
How do you describe your job to people outside SCOE?
I describe my role as administrative support to our County Superintendent of Schools and County Board of Education.
Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Rohnert Park until moving to the Sacramento area to attend UC Davis. Sonoma County has always been home, though, so it didn’t take long after graduating to return to the people and area that I love most.
Who was your favorite childhood teacher and why?
Ms. Ann Sumner is one of my favorite and most memorable teachers from middle school. She is smart, witty, and independent; and always had a way of making subject matter jump off the pages. I know she has touched so many students’ lives with her enthusiasm and passion.
What is your favorite thing about SCOE?
I love that SCOE’s heart and soul is about students, and making a difference in their lives every day.
What is one of your most memorable moments as a SCOE employee?
I thoroughly look forward to seeing our transition students in the hallways or when they come by my desk each week. Nothing makes me smile more than having a moment or two to interact with them and see how their day is going!
Outside of work, what is your favorite hobby or way to unwind?
Traveling (near and far) with my family is what I would do with every free moment if that was possible! When that’s not possible, I love to watch my kids do what they love, which usually means you’ll find me on a soccer field or in a gym. I also love to hangout in my backyard, barbecuing with family, and making little moments turn into forever memories.
Do you have a favorite TV show, movie or book that involves a school setting?
I used to watch the TV show "Saved by the Bell" with my brother and sister all the time, and still enjoy watching a rerun when it crosses my path.
What is your favorite place in Sonoma County?
I love the tranquility and cool air at Armstrong Redwoods, but I don’t get there nearly often enough.
What might people be surprised to learn about you?
I like to bake! Especially for my kiddos’ school and sports fundraisers, so you may occasionally see my little fruit pies at a bake sale or a themed cake made especially for a school event. Also, I have a little bit of a liking for Maui…and have been visiting the island almost annually since I was 10 years old.
