Homework for January 26th

Date: 11/18/2015
Author: Jenn Guerrero

This year the EL Collaborative has determined that one of our focus areas is How do we make EL instructional strategies a school-wide focus (delivery, buy-in, commitment)? To help move our thinking forward on this topic, please read Michael Fullan's article Motivate the Masses: Experiencing is Believing

While reading, please consider the following questions:

  • How do you see yourself as a "change leader" in your setting?
  • Fullan writes, "change is only a mirage unless people actually experience the reality of improvement." How do you see yourself building opportunities for staff that help them to experience the success of English Learners?
  • What resonated with you in the article?
  • What questions do you have?

"I like Amarosa because there's a much smaller student count and so teachers can be one-on-one with you. They can actually help you and be one-on-one with you while the class is doing something else. I feel like that's a huge game-changer." - Leilan, Student
