Bringing the Math Framework to Life: Teaching to Big Ideas
In a rapidly changing 21st century, students need to develop transferable understanding in mathematics to navigate complex challenges. This webinar for K-12 educators provides an overview to teaching around big ideas, a foundational element of the 2023 California Math Framework. Through practical examples and classroom-based strategies, participants will gain a clear understanding of what it means to “teach around a big idea” and why it is essential for fostering deeper, transferable learning. The session will also address common misconceptions, equipping educators to confidently explain and apply this approach in their practice.
