Meeting the Unique Needs of Newcomer Students
“The unique worldviews and diversity of the newcomer population will add a layer of richness to the tapestry of your classroom and to your life that may have been absent had you not been lucky enough to be teaching these kids.” - Michelle L. Yzquierdo, Pathways to Greatness for ELL Newcomers
This session will include practical and essential information, tools, and resources to help schools effectively serve newcomer students across the grade levels. Participants will explore four core areas of high-quality programs: welcoming and understanding newcomers, attuning to their unique social and emotional needs, high-quality instruction, and grading.
