Introduction to the Science of Reading 4-12
Every child has the right to read. Yet, many older students struggle with basic and more complex reading skills. How can we leverage years of scientific research to ensure that our instructional practices best meet the needs of the students in our classrooms? This series will examine reading comprehension as a product of language comprehension and word recognition (decoding). We will explore the foundations of decoding and comprehension and explore ways to embed instructional strategies into the upper elementary and secondary classroom settings.
