SCOE Summer Institute 2022
Please save the dates for the 2022 SCOE Summer Institute: Tuesday - Thursday, August 2-4, 2022
Over the past 10 years, the Sonoma County Office of Education has hosted a teaching and learning summer institute to allow local educators to think deeply about transforming learning experiences for students. The theme for this year's Institute is "Community Voices, Bold New Choices." Over the past 5 years, SCOE and its partner organizations have invested significant time, energy, and resources into gathering community voices and perspectives on educational needs and experiences of local students. It is now critical that those of us in the education system take action in response to what we have heard and what we have learned. We must act boldly in confronting the challenges being faced by our students, examine our systems and our individual and collective role in contributing to these challenges, and begin the essential work of building more responsive and more human systems.
The 11th annual Institute will be held August 2-4. There is no cost to participate, and Sonoma County teachers, counselors, and classified staff members* will receive a $700 stipend for their participation in the Institute. We strongly encourage people to attend as part of a school or district team, but individuals are welcome to apply.
*Classified staff members may only receive the stipend if they are participating in the Institute during non-work hours. Administrators are not eligible to receive the stipend and we are currently looking into the possibility of making the stipend available for participating students.
We sincerely hope that you and members of your district will make plans to join us for this reimagined Institute.
