The Smarter Balanced Assessments are one component in California’s testing system now known as the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Other assessments in the system include the California English Language Development Test (CELDT), California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE), Early Assessment Program (EAP), and California Alternative Performance Assessment (CAPA).
The Smarter Balanced Assessments are key because they provide tools to gauge progress implementing the Common Core State Standards. As schools prepare for the 2014 Field Test this spring, one key element of success involves clearly communicating about the test and promoting understanding among teachers, students, parents, and the community.
This post offers an index of communications resources that will help ensure that all stakeholders are informed about and understand the purpose of the 2014 Field Test.
