Sonoma County Office of Education

SCOE hosts information night for school board candidates

04/21/2016 -

In advance of the Nov. 8 school board elections, Sonoma County Office of Education will host a free information session for any community members interested in running for their local school boards. Attendees will learn firsthand what it’s like to serve on a school board from a panel of current board members who span the county and possess a spectrum of insight, ranging from board members in their first term of service to seasoned veterans. In addition to the panel discussion, audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions. Registration is required.

“Local school boards are at the heart of this country’s public education system. By keeping education in the hands of locally elected board members, our schools continue to be important, responsible community assets that reach out to all children and support their success," said Dr. Steven D. Herrington, Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools. "The individuals elected to serve on school boards have both the privilege and responsibility of helping make Sonoma County schools some of the best in the state.”
