Imagination Chapter applications due July 2

06/20/2014 - IdeaAs part of an Imagination Foundation pilot program, Sonoma County public schools have the opportunity to host one of the 30 Imagination Chapters being formed around the world. SCOE is coordinating the competitive application process that will determine the school location of this chapter. Applications are due July 2.

This opportunity is made possible thanks to the generosity of a number of local individuals and organizations. The majority of the funding was coordinated by Sonoma Country Day School, where a second Sonoma County chapter will be housed.

The Sonoma County public school selected for this project will receive funding for all required initial year activities. Staff will receive training and support in the dynamics of “creative play,” startup logistics and sustainability, research on creativity and learning, and specialized support for Common Core Standards alignment. Multiple opportunities for collaboration between the two Sonoma County chapters will be provided.

The following three factors will be considered in determining the location of the public school Imagination Chapter: 1) Capacity of leadership and key staff, 2) Need, and 3) Level of interest.

The application process will take place in two stages, including submission of a written application by July 2 and an interview during the week of July 7-11 for finalists. For more information about this opportunity, please reference the following documents:
