SCOE employees honored

08/18/2015 - SCOE held its 2014-15 Back-to-School event on Monday. As is the tradition here at SCOE, we began the school year by recognizing exemplary employees and our colleagues who have reached landmark years of services. Here is the list of employees who were honored this year.

Golden Bell Recipients

Classified

Nora John: Nora is the face and voice of the North Coast Beginning Teacher Program, providing participants with whatever help they need with registration, make-up work and more. "The way in which Nora can guide an overwhelmed and frustrated teacher so smoothly is truly perfection," reads her nomination. "Nora has the patience of a Kindergarten teacher!"

Susie Truelove: Susie shows constant and consistent good work ethic in addition to above-and-beyond customer service, according to her nomination. The nomination goes on to say, "She contributes to a perception that those of us that work (at SCOE) and serve the districts and public are kind-hearted and efficient."

Carin Cutler: Carin is described as an "amazing" teacher who makes it look easy to run a non-categorical K-2 class for students with severe disabilities. She often works with students with difficult behaviors and with grieving parents. She works diligently to ensure those students' academic, behavioral, and social success and communicates with parents to ease their anxieties and help them understand their child. According to her nomination,"she is passionate and loves her students."

Management

Georgia Ioakimedes: Georgia is described in her nomination as "a dedicated leader," "fearless," and "our pillar." As the director of the Alternative Education/ Student Support department, she models excellent leadership skills and is the glue that keeps her department together as a team in good times and difficult ones, according to her nomination. Comments from her team include, "She holds us accountable to do our very best," and "You can see that she genuinely cares about her staff and students."

District Service Award Recipient

Linda Daugherty:Linda serves as an accountant at SCOE, also helping districts with attendance reporting. One district contact described her as "thoughtful and patient," adding, "She is always knowledgeable and helpful to me in making sure that I submit our attendance reports correctly." She is also described as informative, kind and an excellent mentor.
