Michael Juric named interim assistant superintendent for Human Resources

06/10/2015 - Michael JuricCounty Superintendent Steve Herrington announced today that Dr. Michael Juric will serve as interim assistant superintendent for SCOE’s Human Resources department, effective August 1. He will fill the position currently held by Jeff Heller, who is retiring.

In this executive leadership post, Dr. Juric will oversee the recruitment, hiring, and personnel management of all SCOE certificated and classified staff. He will provide supervision and oversight for the North Coast Beginning Teacher Program, which is an induction program for new teachers throughout a multi-county region, and serve as a professional resource for Sonoma County school districts regarding employment issues. Countywide credentialing services and substitute teacher permit processing will also be under his direction.

In assuming this position, Michael Juric concludes an eight-year history of employment at CalSTRS, where he has held a variety of administrative positions at the local, regional, and state levels. He also has a substantial amount of experience in education and is knowledgeable about both human resources and educational services. He has held deputy or assistant superintendent positions in the Ukiah Unified School District, Marin County Office of Education, Novato Unified School District, and Windsor Unified School District. In the 1980s, he was principal of Healdsburg Elementary School.

In announcing Dr. Juric’s selection, Superintendent Herrington said, “The quality of service that SCOE provides is directly dependent on the expertise of our staff, which makes the human resources function extremely critical. Michael Juric has focused on the people in education throughout much of his career and we will benefit from his experience. I’m pleased to welcome him to SCOE.”
