Linking Assessment to Intervention: using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with adolescents
This workshop will provide participants with an overview of new features and changes with the newest version of the Behavior Assessment System for Children, third edition (BASC3) and an introduction to Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) & Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
CBT and DBT are models of intervention that are designed to reduce problems associated with mood and affect management, and behavioral regulation. Participants will leave with an understanding of the theoretical foundations that are associated with the development of problems with emotional/behavioral dysregulation. Specific skills discussed include developing a basic understanding of CBT, as well as the DBT skills of Core Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotional Regulation, and Distress Tolerance. The primary emphasis of this workshop will be linking assessment results to these specific interventions.
