Strength-Based Leadership: Developing Strength-Based Schools & Districts
Research by Gallup indicates that leaders who routinely discuss strengths with their staff have teams that are 12.5% more productive than those who don’t. Staff who feel their managers focus on strengths are twice as engaged (30% to 61%). This series will explore the concept of strength-based leadership in education. Throughout the series, administrators will begin by looking at their own strengths and thinking about how they apply to the work they do. Then the focus will shift to how leaders can leverage the strengths of their staff. Finally, participants will consider how schools can focus on strengths, rather than simply identifying and correcting weaknesses.
In the final session of the series, participants will learn about how some educators are approaching developing strength-based schools, including tools that can be used in classrooms and with staff to build on strengths. Individuals who are implementing strength-based classes and schools will present on their approach to this challenge. Participant discussion will also include plans to implement some of the concepts presented.
