CTEL Preparation, Summer Intensive

This 60-hour training provides intensive English language development training for teachers who are preparing to take the CTEL examination (which has replaced CLAD) or planning to work with students whose primary language is not English. Highlighting a variety of topics, techniques, and strategies, this training will explore current research, socio-cultural factors, state regulations, second-language acquisition, second-language methodology, literacy development, content area instruction through sheltered English instruction, comparative/contrastive linguistics, and English language development.
This class meets Monday-Friday, August 6-10, and Monday-Tuesday, August 13-14, 2012, from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Credit: Four units of upper division extended education credit available for $55 per unit through Sonoma State University; application available at first class meeting.
